My Favorite Movie Cliches: 10 "Cleaning" Scenes made FUN! with MUSIC and DANCING

A dirty kitchen, an old junker of a car, a messy playroom...these types of situations can be quite the drag - but not when someone starts playing a sweet sweet tune and it suddenly turns into a riproaring good time!!!!!! In an edition of My Favorite Movie Cliches, we explore the "cleaning made fun" cinematic device - also known as "whistle while you work" and "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down". If you're into making your own mashup you can do so here with Searchles TV!

1. Honey I Shrunk the Kids (1989) - Amy's Dance. I would expect nothing but rhythm out of Rick Moranis' supposed offspring. How could the boy next door resist Amy Szalinski's domesticity (I hope that's a word) and slammin' moves? Little did they know what was to happen next...

2. The Sword in the Stone (1963) - Higgitus Figgitus. I have nothing to say except that I love everything about this disney classic. Right down to the disruptive teacup.

3. Car Wash (1976) - Car Wash. Self-explanatory. In what wikipedia describes as a "blaxploitation" comedy film, it was proved that washing cars is more fun with disco music and Richard Pryor cameos.

4. Annie (1982) - Hard Knock Life. One could argue the girls at the orphanage aren't necessarily having more "fun" once they start singing, but I sure have more fun watching them at said juncture in the film - so it makes the list.

5. The Big Chill (1983) - Ain't Too Proud to Beg. Probably the best example of this cliche - they're really hamming it up. Great movie with a most excellent soundtrack though.

6. Blazing Saddles (1974) - Camptown Races. Maybe not PC - but Mel Brooks is a genius.

7. Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) - Dude Looks Like a Lady. How could we ever forget the image of Mrs. Doubtfire shakin it with the vacuum. Well, I'd sure like to.

8. Grease (1978) - Greased Lightning. Gosh they cleaned that car up good, but boy Jeff Conaway's changed.

9. Mary Poppins (1964) - A Spoonful of Sugar. They're even SINGing about how singing makes cleaning fun. Double-whammy. God bless Julie Andrews.

10. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) - Whistle While You Work. And the woman that started it all. Good ooooold Snow White.
