Elmo, Friend to the Stars: 12 Classic Appearances of Celebrities on Sesame Street

Sesame Street was (and is) flippin amazing. I distinctly remember learning to count to ten in Spanish from Maria at age god-knows-what and I think that's kind of a big deal. It was brought to us by the letter 'R', the number '11' and an absurd amount of celebrity guest appearances - generally to teach the kiddies about some sort of lesson. Here are (IMHO) the Top 12 of the bestest actors and musicians to party with Elmo as seen on Youtube and mashed up into a Searchles TV channel (which is a fun activity that you could partake in by clicking here).

1. Madeline Kahn. Mel Brooks - director of four movies with Kahn - says of her, "She is one of the most talented people that ever lived. I mean, either in stand-up comedy, or acting, or whatever you want, you can't beat Madeline Kahn." Here she teaches Grover about echo songs.

2. Robert DeNiro. Speaking to a puppet and still looking badass.

3. Robin Williams. I think Robin Williams whored himself out to Sesame Street four or five times but, you know, this one's enjoyable.

4. Julia Roberts. The younger, bad hair, denim shirt days.

5. Natalie Portman. She pretty much undid all her credibility with parents with Natalie's rap on SNL.

6. Patti Labelle. No child can hit the notes on this alphabet song.

7. James Taylor. Sketchy stache days - amazing song though.

8. Cabbie Calloway. Legendary.

9. Stevie Wonder.

10. Billy Joel. I've given up on describing these things. Billy Joel, he does not look like this anymore.

11. Savion Glover. Okay, Savion was actually a regular cast member on Sesame Street but he's still probably one of the most talented people to grace the stage and dance with Snuffy.

12. Candice Bergen. Good oooold Murphy Brown - shoulder pads-city.
